Analysis of a PAC

Earlier this year I encountered a group of people affiliated with a PAC that, by their own words, was dedicated to eliminating The Squad from Congress. As a progressive independent I was mildly shocked. There are other PACs out there doing the same, some of them dark money super PACs, but this one was different. They were vying for donations on BlueSky.  Almost immediately I began to correct their false proclamations that members of The Squad were vulnerable and needed to be primaried to ‘save America from the left’. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Especially this year. The Israeli/Gaza conflict has had a rallying effect on many of us progressives and this will surely boost the popularity of progressive candidates.  The members of this group, the operatives of Pro PAC, I’ve designated as “Agents Of Division” because that’s exactly what they are. At a time when all Dems should be working together to defeat the GOP, they are advocating for the elimination of progressives from C

Alternatives to MSM

Was it between the Nixon and Reagan eras when I started to really pay attention to the media? Or was it earlier, as a child, when JFK was assassinated? No, it was definitely later. Current events really only caught my eye when it became part of the curriculum in junior high school. I went from being pre-teen to pre-hippie during the first couple of years. I started 7th grade in a wheelchair with two crushed ankles I received working with my brothers in our daddy’s rubbish removal business.   I spent a lot of time in front of the television in those years. There was no internet yet, nor was there any such thing as satellite or cable tv, only radio and broadcast television. The Vietnam war and the civil rights movement were both in full swing, and it would’ve taken a monumental disaster to distract me from all that. ‘The Man’ was very much in control of what the public saw in the news, though I didn’t realize it for what it was. The ‘establishment’, or anyone over thirty, were the  perce

?a collection of random thoughts

Beannacht Éireannach☘ "May you never steal, lie or cheat. But if you must steal, then steal away my sorrows. If you must lie, then lie with me all the nights of my life. And if you must cheat, then please cheat death, because I could never live a day without you." Unknown Dreams: I still have my dreams. About world peace anyways. About saving this planet of ours. About leaving something better for my grandchildren. Reality: A lot of  powerful men have tried to change the world and  failed. Don’t expect your elected leaders to carry that ball. We are all tasked to do our part. The job doesn’t end the day after Election Day. Every state, every district and every county/city/town has come under attack from those who want control over our lives. They do it by playing on our fears I’ve come to realize that nothing can still the basic human desire to dominate not just other humans but everything around us. It’s built into our dna. How do we fight that?  Religion and the so called

Ukraine and more

News of the war in Ukraine, and other links of interest  For those avoiding the bird app, or anybody interested in helping Ukraine for that matter.  Below are some accounts I follow for news of the war. I started this list with only Nitter.net links when the first great exodus began. I see now that that was a bit short-sighted. People want more. I will be converting as many of these as possible to other sources, whether they be websites or alternative social platforms, and will keep updating it as needed. I’ve created a list of the BlueSky accounts in this directory. Find it here👇🏽 https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:2p5qqtcjcbp52qcddseuxdqd/lists/3kl66ea3s5d2s Other news: 8/4/23  I’ll be adding some cultural links starting today. I’ll include things like literature, music & dance, traditional Ukrainian crafts & woodworks & so on. I encourage you to donate to or buy Ukrainian.  Etsy has a lot of wares from Ukrainian craftsmen. You might not know this, but just four days afte
